It’s Leo Season for #TeamMac! And by that, I mean 3 out of 6 of us are born the first two weeks in August! I managed to limit the party throwing to only 2 parties this year. One for my oldest… I mean my husband! Hehe … and one BIG party for my oldest daughter and my son.
I am so not a “Pinterest mom,” so the theme was “birthday party” LOL! You guys you know those pretty photos where everything looks so pretty … the perfect slice of cake with confetti on the table etc I can’t do that to save my life LOL.
In short, this birthday party is not pin-worthy!!! But it was filled with lots of love!
For My husband, we threw a surprise party inspired by some team building games I learned at a staff meeting I attended that same morning as the party LOL.
Then the following week, I threw a glow light swim party for the kids, complete with a custom cake from Wal-Mart. And by custom, I mean… It was baked 3 days before I put it in my shopping cart.
Overall, I spent just under $350 for both parties, which for me was a win because we can very easily spend upwards of $450 per birthday party, and I just wanted to scale it back this year.
You know what’s funny… I don’t know that my guests had any less fun because I was less broke LOL! This time I tried to be intentional about decorations that mattered (ie balloons, and glow sticks) and tried to pay way less attention to the tiny Pinterest type details like custom water bottles. No judgment if you are doing custom water bottles… This momma is just over all that. I mean I may pull out all the stops again for a sweet 16…or maybe the big 5-0!… but for 6, 9 and 39… Walmart Hit it out of the park!!!!!! (I am just saying LOL)
Tell me in the comments….. are you a Pinterest party mom? And do you have any tips for creating the perfect lay-flat photo?
