Best At Home Workout Apps Available from Your Cell Phone and Computer

Sworkit

Sworkit is THE most comprehensive workout app I have come across so far. They have literally thought of everything. I love that within the app you can choose by the equipment.

You can also select a workout plan by the participant, difficulty, and category. Sworkit took it one step further by allowing you to even choose a focus area. For example to you want workouts to focus primarily on the front of your body or the back of your body? And the best news is you can select multiple categories to create your perfect workout.

I even loved that you can select from different music genres that will play while you workout. I normally choose the 90s workout playlist that is called “old school.”

As you work out there is an on-screen person that will talk you through each move to ensure you achieve your best form. You can choose in the setting if you want the app to show you a preview of your next exercise to help you with keeping your heart rate up while you workout.

Fiton

Fiton is very similar to Sworkit. The biggest difference is that each class is led by an instructor who talks and cheers you through each workout routine. You can filter Fiton workouts by length of workout, and focus area. One advantage over this workout program as compared to others is that you can sign up for live classes. I talk more about that live classes here.

Yoga Collective

Yoga collective is a yoga app for real yoga. I think it’s a step up from Yoga with Adrian which I talk about below. This is the most comprehensive yoga app I have found so far. This app is not free but the cost was minimal especially when you consider the number of classes you get for the cost. Yoga Collective does offer a free 2 week trial. You can check out their current prices and take advantage of the free trial at yogacollective.com

Fiton

I did mention Fiton earlier, but I am reintroducing this app because in addition to their on demand workouts, Fiton also has a feature that has scheduled workouts where you can workout live with an instructor at various times of the day. Although the participants themselves are new viewable during the workout, you can see how large the community is during your workout and sometimes just knowing others are out there is enough to feel like you have company.

Best at home workout classes (Available both in person and Online)

Class Pass

Classpass is normally a subscription-based workout membership that allows you to workout at multiple gyms and fitness centers every month. Right now because of the COVID epidemic Class Pass has pivoted away from a subscription-based service and is offering FREE online classes. You can sign up to access those classes here. There are a few classes that do require the paid membership but there are definitely plenty of options that will give you a great workout at home.

Some of my favorite features of the Class Pass online platform is the break down of different types of workouts like cardio and strength for example.

When I am not stuck at home I love to use Class Pass to do in person boxing, yoga, TRX, and Kettle Bell workouts. I use to pay $29 a month for about 6 classes, but Class Pass is freezing their paid subscriptions until a future date to support the hardship we are all going through during this crazy time.

Mind Body

Mind Body is the app I use to register for my favorite yoga and pilates class. The app is free but the classes cost money. You can buy a class package or unlimited passes for specific studios. And recently they added a feature

Best At Home Workouts for Live Group Fitness

Sometimes you just need to be with people! I mean even if it is virtually. Never a time in my lifetime have I appreciated more what it means to have a community. And working out at home with a community feels just as important as so many other daily activities.

My Workout Party

My Workout Party is a live group fitness class that is inspired by John Benton Model fitness types of routines. Basically “My workout party” is a circuit based routine to help you get your heart rate going while creating a long and lean model type physique.

Bonus that the hosts for at My workout Party are full of energy and often have themed workouts that make the time fly by. The hosts use zoom as the platform so you can literally see the other participants while you workout which is a total bonus. You can see a photo I took during one of my first My Workout Party workouts below. Yes, that’s me next to the red arrow! hehe

The My Workout Party’s at home workouts are typically just under an hour long, and will leave you sweating from the combination of cardio and resistance training. And smiling from the incredible energy from the women who lead the group!

  • Ankle weights (optional)
  • 2-5 lb weights (optional)

Fiton

I did mention Fiton earlier on this blog post. But I thought they were worth mentioning again becuase they have the feature to attend live workout sessions within their app. And yes you can logon to Fiton both from your phone and computer.

Best At Home Workouts on Youtube

Yoga with Adrian

I fell in love with Yoga with Adrian like millions of other yoga- loving youtube viewers because of her super laid back style and casual vibe. It’s a great introduction to yoga and she has a ton of videos that are easy to search through to fit your specific yoga needs.

Adrian practices yoga with the company of her cute dog that will often make an appearance during her sessions.

Equipment needed

  • Comfortable clothes
  • Yoga mat (optional)

High Fitness

High Fitness is the modern-day jazzercise. It is cardio meets your favorite top 40 hits, meets an easy to follow choreographed routine. I have done several high fitness classes at my local gym and usually, the class consists of about 8 songs back to back and the instructors don’t skip passed the natural break that occurs between songs.

On youtube, you have the ability to choose a playlist and create your own workout to fit your musical preference. I don’t do this one often but this is a fun one to do with the kids. And it’s FREE and it feels safer to do some of this choreography in my home than in a room full of strangers. So that’s a win too!

My Favorite No tech in home Workout

Body Boss

I got the Body Boss program almost a year ago and back then it was a 12 week spiral bound at home workout plan. And I loved it. I loved it because it has a really great progression of exercises and included photos and easy to follow directions.

body boss review

The Body Boss at home workout plan included a calendar and guide for what workouts to do when and how often and it really made working out so simple. This was the first in home workout program I tried after having my fourth baby and saw great results. So much so I did the 12-week program two times.

Eventually, I also got the superfood nutrition guide which includes a 12-week nutrition guide with recipes and photos. The nutrition guide includes Breakfast, lunch, dinner and shopping lists. It was super easy to follow and is outlined by each day of the week. Many of the recipes I learned in the nutrition guide are still in my regular rotation like this purple cabbage recipe I made here.

Please let me know if you have tried any of the workouts above. And if you think I should add any additional apps to my future lists. If you need a workout playlist I invite you to check out the BEST 90s Music Playlist EVER!
